Our Landscaping Story Began In 2003

Our company was founded as Arbor Cycle in 2003 by Kevin Thompson, a local college student who worked part time mowing lawns. He started as the sole employee, working out of a single truck to provide homeowners with beautiful lawns.

Over the years, we grew from that one-truck operation to a full team of exceptional local landscapers. As our team expanded, so did our services: businesses could soon receive grounds maintenance or commercial snow removal, and homeowners could extend their living space with beautiful hardscapes.

We Expanded Our Business To Include Arborist Services

In 2010, owner Kevin Thompson fulfilled a longtime goal: we became an ISA certified arborist company, offering exceptional tree services to both homeowners and large businesses. These services include safe tree removal, health analysis services and even tree strengthening.

Arbor Cycle Became Sylvan Scapes

As our company continued growing, we outgrew our old name. In 2021, the company known as Arbor Cycle became Sylvan Scapes.

Despite almost twenty years of growth, we stay committed to our customers. In fact, each and every customer still receives a visit from our company owner, Kevin, during the initial consultation. This commitment to expert, professional and personalized landscaping service that exceeds your expectations is our promise to our customers.

Our Team

David Philippy

David Philippy is our herbicide technician and a member of our tree removal crew. He grew up in Staunton and joined the United States Navy after highschool. While in the Navy, he developed an interest in First Aid, which he continues to nurture through education. His favorite part of working with Sylvan Scapes is spending time outdoors in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley.

Eliseo Leon

Eliseo Leon has been with us since 2013, and his hard work and dedication have led him to the lead position of our mowing crew. His favorite part of working with Sylvan Scapes is consistently exceeding the expectations of our customers. In his spare time, you can find him playing soccer and spending time with his family.
